Maybe Yosh isn't crazy....

So on Tuesday I go to the doctor and go through the normal torture... pee in a cup, get on the scale, wait in the little doctor room for 35 minutes (with two toddlers I must add) before the doctor makes her entrance. She looks through the info the nurse has noted and looks at me and says, "Do we need to talk about a diet?" I let out a little chuckle, the natural 6-month response for weight gain that says "I've already thrown in the towel, but if you want we can talk about diet all you want. But let me ask you this, Doctor, do you have some magical 'diet' that is going to stop me from pounding cookie after cookie after cookie? And don't think that telling me I'm getting chubby is going to be motivation enough to stop those Oreos and milk from making their way into my growing belly. Do you think I haven't tried that? In fact, I've even tried taking it a step further by reminding myself that I will stay chubby AFTER birth with this kind of behavior. BUT... no dice. We keep having our rendezvous about every other day, the cookies and milk and me. And on the off day, it's ice cream, or Snickers, or brownies. Basically, I've come to terms with where we're at and will start to reconsider the situation in approximately 3 months. By that time, hopefully some type of governor might have returned to my body that tells me 'You are full.' Cuz I've yet to hear that voice since getting pregnant and really nothing- not even you, Doctor, suggesting a diet and all the connotations that come along with that- is going to change until that happens. And as long as I'm this hungry, I'm eating the stuff I love." But I saved that response and let her off the hook with a simple, "No, I'm good but thanks." I got a good laugh out of that. Great doctor, best of intentions, just not the most cooperative patient! Yosh has another one reaffirming his opinion!

  1. You are too funny, but I TOTALLY understand! I feel like my stomach is an endless pit that cannot be filled! I am eating constantly and although I try to eat the healthy stuff, its the junk that makes me really happy! So I too am there with you - eating Oreos, Chips Ahoy, and stealing Finn's Teddy Grahams on our walks and at Church! Ha ha. We'll just have to train for a 1/2 together after these boys arrive! Sound like a plan??

  3. Do you remember when I was pregnant w/ Jenna and my jerk of a doctor said to me, "looks like someone's been swinging through Wendy's a little too much!" And I only gained 30 pounds with her (not bad considering I gained almost SIXTY with Brooke and my dearest sweetest OBGYN never said a word). :)

  4. All i have to say is that if your body has to go through the whole ordeal of being pregnant, it can have as much snd whatever it wants! Thats the only thing that keeps me sane when i'm pregnant!

  6. I am glad to hear I am not the only one thinking I should just pour the sugar into my mouth. I can't stop wanting to eat junk! I try and try to eat better but really I just want another little debbie. I am also glad there are other people out there who don't just gain 25 pounds. I am thinking I am huge already and can't believe I have 3 more months to go! How big will I get?

  9. The situation reminds me of my first two pregnancies... unfortunately this one I have actually lost wait... and only gained a couple pounds. I think it is amazing. Of course, I don't know if I am having boy or girl yet. But I have had weird cravings with this one... with my boys it was all sweets... especially the heavy duty fat stuff like cookies, brownies and just plain lots of chocolate. Unfortunately, with Chris I had a regular size candy bar at least every other day. So i understand. SO we are definitely thinking girl... because all the stuff I used to love before having two boys I am craving once again. We will see in less than 2 short weeks.

  11. I followed that pregnancy diet too. I was pregnant with Ella during an El Nino summer - Ara and I stopped for ice cream everyday. Then I had 10 pound Ella and she got stuck during the birth.

I must admit I was more careful with the others. :)

  12. I don't see any extra weight on you. I am 6 mos (due July 2) and people are already asking me when I'm due. I've gained 40 lbs with each pregnancy and I'm already at 35 - but the cookies are just too yummy! I just keep telling myself this is what happens on the 4th kid and when you're 30.
